SERIES INFORMATION
"Macross": Robotech is an anime series that spans four generations of Earth's defenders against insurmountable odds. It all begins when an alien spaceship crashes on Earth in 1999, ending a global war. Ten years later, on the innagural flight of the rebuilt vessel, the Zentraedi (sent by the owners of the ship) arrive to recover it and Earth is thrust into the first of three "Robotech Wars."

Southern Cross: The second Robotech War was fought by the Armies of the Southern Cross. The bulk of Earth's fleet had been sent to Tirol, homeworld of the Robotech Masters, in attempt to prevent a war with them after the devastating war with their Zentraedi warriors. However, the REF (Earth fleet) and Robotech Masters would miss eachothers in transit and the Masters would arrive on Earth, and again Earth was thrust into another war.

Invid Invasion: With the defeat of the Robotech Masters Earth was depeleted of it's defenses and resources, morale was low, and the world once again ravaged by war. However, in the lull that followed the masters defeat there was no great jubilee and celebration as there was at the end of the first Robotech War, for the leaders of the remaining military knew the Invid were to follow. The Invid, arch-enemies of the Masters, arrived on Earth following the "Flower of Life" released by the masters exploding mothership, and laid seige to Earth. This war was not fought by great fleets and armies as the first two, but almost entirely by human resistance fighters scattered across the devastated Earth. The REF mission fleet would return just in time to help free Earth from the Invid after nearly 2 years of occupation.

The Sentinels: What kept the REF from returning to fight the masters back on Earth? The Invid. The Invid race had been split in two, one side led by the revenge-crazed and blood thirst Regent, who had been layign seige to Tirol when the REF arrived; and the Regis, the mother of the Invid race and a more peaceful side of the two. The REF was swept into the battle at Tirol and drawn into a war across the galaxy to free nearly a dozen other races and worlds from the grip of the cruel Invid Regent. They would only begin to gain ground when the Regis would leave with half of the Invid people (ironically to take Earth). When the Regent was destroyed (ending the Sentinels War) the REF sped home to save now captive Earth, thus ending the Third Robotech War. |
