Overview:
Perfect Blue is a serious psycho thriller. Centered around a young pop-idol Mima, the story begins with her quitting under pressure from one of her managers from her Pop group "Cham". Cham is not making the "big time" (this is evident when the two remaining singers celebrate a #83 as their "best hit") and since Mima has a fairly large fan following she is pushed into acting.
Mima goes along with it, but she is pressed into some dirty scenes and a nude photography session, and basically sells-out to prove she can do this (this is also engineered by one of her agents). As she battles this in her own mind someone else has begun to divulge very detailed secrets of her life onto a web page called "Mima's Room."
What appears as an over-interested fan soon turns into nightmarish troubles as Mima's friends and colleagues are threatened and killed, and every indication begins to point that SHE is next...
A class act movie... this was described (my favorite remark) as "Something Alfred Hitchcock would have done if he ever teamed up with Disney." ^_^ That basically sums of the whole feeling of suspense and intrigue Perfect Blue has all through out it.
