- General Information
- The basic information of the lair is found on this page. The lair is set up to be an anime centered page, with an eventual focus on Role-Playing Games as well. We may evenhave some sort of on-line role playing games hosted here, and have already begun writing some all-original fan-fic stories based on the more popular anime titles (this is partially determined by site visitors).
- Lair History
- The Lair, as a website has a relatively short history, that begins in 1998 with the creation of several small independant Anime sites. At that time I, Zor, ran about a half dozen small sites that were only loosely linked, with little or no affiliation to each other. The plan was to make a single site...
In 2001 the plans were finally unvelied and the site was opened using the name of my dragon. You'll get to read abot him a little bit later on this page.
- Dragon Lore Used
- There are several influences for the sort of dragon lore used here, however, most predominant is Anne McCafferey's Pern style. In Pern style dragonlore dragons are not mankind's enemy but an ally and the two are almost dependant on each other- the dragons need man to help control them and to increase their overall memory (not supplement their intelligence) and such, and mankind depends on dragons and dragonriders for protection. Where our game differed from Pern is that not only was their threat from above (Pern had scientifically defined "thread" parasites falling from the sky) but all around, ours was a fantasy world- sort of Pern meets a milder D&D style world.
A quick oversight of dragon lore follows:
- Dragons never harm man (this does NOT include wild dragons- there are various forms of wild dragons, those that are born naturally and those whose rider has died and it is unable to teleport to it's own death, to name a few).
- DragonRiders and their kin are of better than noble blood, second socially to their own kind and monarchs alone. (social rules prevent dragonriders from being arrogant about this for the most part)
- Cities and Kingdoms MUST tithe to their DragonHold(s) in exchange for the protection the dragons provide.
- Dragons are not concerned with the afairs of man. DragonHolds are not to interefere in the affairs of the world of man (kingdoms rise and fall but the dragons must remain vigilant to protect regardless of the warring people below).
- Other Lores
- There are literally hundreds of varying lores surrounding the mythological dragons in all sorts of ways. Some have them as the spiritual guardians of families, made from the spirits of ancestors passed along in years past. Others claim they are the nature spirits "big brothers" out to defend the world, others claim them demons, and still some as wild once naturally occuring beasts of great power... Whatever the story it is clear that the fascination with dragons is nothing new. In the future we would like to host a list and summary of many of the world's dragon lores.
